Golden Bear will retain master toy licence for BAFTA award-winning Something Special.
BBC Worldwide announces that Golden Bear is to retain the master toy licence, including games and puzzles, for BAFTA award-winning CBeebies show Something Special. The renewal will cover the UK and Ireland.
Starring BAFTA award-winning children’s entertainer Justin Fletcher, Something Special has been entertaining pre-schoolers and children with special needs on CBeebies for more than 10 years, regularly appearing in the top three most watched shows on the channel. Incorporating Makaton signing, Justin and his friend Mr Tumble help children learn how to communicate and develop language skills.
Barry Hughes, commercial director at Golden Bear, commented: “We are delighted to extend our commitment to Something Special. We share the BBC’s passion about the programme and the entertainment, learning and inclusiveness it delivers to pre-schoolers and kids of all ages and abilities. The show consistently reaches more children than any other programme in the UK and the toy range has become an evergreen within pre-school licences. We are looking forward to bringing many more Mr Tumble toys to the market in the forthcoming years.”
Julie Kekwick, senior licensing manager, BBC Worldwide added: “We are delighted to be building on our long-standing relationship with Golden Bear. One of our flagship properties, Something Special continues to entertain and excite audiences on a daily basis. Golden Bear continue to deliver newness and innovation into the range, creating products that delight little ones and perform at retail.”
Golden Bear recently refreshed and re-designed the Something Special offering under the new banner of Mr Tumble Something Special. Latest additions to the toy collection feature many of the key learning elements brought to life from the CBeebies show, with Sing Along with Mr Tumble and Large Talking Mr Tumble set to join the award-winning Mr Tumble Fun Sounds Musical Car and Mr Tumble with Fun Tumble Tapp for autumn/winter 2017. These products will also feature at this year’s BLE.
