Smyths Toys Superstores unveils new brand advert

The star of the advert is Snot: the toy that no one wanted.

Smyths Toys Superstores has unveiled its much anticipated brand ad for 2017. Last year’s If I Were A Toy campaign followed Oscar’s journey through the toy store and featured an array of toys. This year, Smyths Toys Superstores has introduced the new character Snot, a toy who begins as a factory line error but goes on to become this year’s most wanted toy.

The story follows Snot as he wanders through the streets looking for a place to call home. Though he encounters a series of unfortunate events on his travels, including being chased by a 50ft monster, Snot ends up saving the day and finds a home in the aisles of Smyths Toys Superstores.

The full 60” advert can be viewed below, or can be watched this Saturday on the ad break of ITV X Factor at 8.15pm.

Sinead Byrne, joint head of marketing at Smyths Toys, commented of Snot: “We have fallen in love with this new character’s playfulness and sense of adventure, and we hope our little customers will love him too.”

Smyths Toys have brought Snot to life by creating a plush toy of Snot, as well as a book telling the tale of his adventure to the toy store. The retailer has confirmed that it will be donating all the profits from sales of Snot and his book in the UK to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity in the UK.
