Set and drive the Vision and Strategy for the Design Department (Product Development, Illustration, Graphic Design and Branding) to bring creative and innovative global brands from concept, through product development to completion, on time and within agreed budgets.
10+ years experience in a similar role within the toy industry;
Relevant tertiary qualification.
Strong experience developing and implementing toy design strategies and plans, and creative vision for global consumer products with proven results.
Demonstrated capacity to lead and manage an effective team through high level people management and leadership skills, this includes an ability to develop and provide relevant structures and procedures for team members.
Proven high level interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to manage information flow upwards and downwards. In addition, an ability to forge strong and professional relationships with key stakeholders within and outside the business.
Strong negotiation and problem solving capabilities, as well as an ability to make decisions at a strategic level in line with company goals and objectives.
Well developed conceptual, strategic and analytical capabilities.
An ability to plan, implement and deliver projects to satisfactory completion.
A demonstrated ability to assimilate into a fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture.
Demonstrable experience with Chinese manufacturers and suppliers.
Sound knowledge of relevant quality and safety standards.
Product development knowledge and experience.
Proficient in the use of MS office and project software.
Strategy and Vision
Provide creative strategy and direction to capitalise on Moose existing and new brands.
Lead cross-functional development managers, to drive innovation on cost and time, in the most sustainable manner.
Ensure that company and departmental annual goals are met and reported on as per agreed timelines.
Design and Development
Drive all aspects of development, including design, engineering, branding and packaging.
Oversee and sign off on approval processes to maintain quality, safety and timeline expectations. Oversee the development process to achieve commercial viability of designs.
Lead product reviews at several stages of development.
Leadership and Staff Management
Champion the Moose culture to enable reports to deliver on The Wow.
Oversee the day to day workloads and performance of direct reports towards the achievement of agreed objectives and deadlines, through the provision of clear direction, coaching and support.
Work with direct reports to set and monitor individual KPIs, and conduct regular reviews inline with the Moose Performance Management Program.
In conjunction with Senior Management, assist in the performance management, training and professional development of team members, with an emphasis on providing timely and constructive feedback on a regular basis.
With support from the HR Manager, regularly review resourcing requirements for the department and participate in recruitment campaigns as required.
