Industry awards programme serves as critical fundraiser for the Toy Industry Foundation.
The toy, game, and licence finalists for the 2018 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards have been unveiled by The Toy Association. The TOTY Awards programme supports children in need by serving as a critical fundraiser for the Toy Industry Foundation.
Between now and 5th January, consumers can visit www.ToyAwards.org to vote for their favorite picks in each of the 17 categories – including new categories for this year such as Creative Toy of the Year, Playset of the Year, and Plush of the Year. The 122 finalists were announced at an exclusive press event to help kick off the second annual Play Fair in New York City.
Steve Pasierb, The Toy Association’s president & CEO,commented at the event: “The TOTY Awards programme supports the Toy Industry Foundation’s work to deliver toys to millions of children in need – whether they are living in foster care, impoverished, recovering in hospitals from a traumatic illness, or facing other difficulties. We look forward to celebrating the big winners and the meaningful work of the Foundation at the February TOTY gala at the Ziegfeld Theater.”
One winner in each category, as well as the coveted Toy of the Year award winner and the People’s Choice winner (based solely on consumer votes), will be announced at the TOTY Awards gala to be held on Friday 16th February at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City. The celebration will help kick-off the 115th North American International Toy Fair, and will include the induction of toy industry trailblazers into the esteemed Toy Industry Hall of Fame.
