Merchants of Fun houses two floors across which families and kids of all ages can explore the enjoyment of board games and table top hobby products.

Red Knight Toy Group has opened the doors to its new experience centre in Belfast, Merchants of Fun.

Being situated in North City Business Centre, where Northern Ireland’s largest educational play resource centre and also Belfast’s largest tutoring centre are based, means Merchants of Fun is in prime location for introducing the fun and educational value of their products to those who visit.

Red Knight’s core business remains trade distribution and agency representation of its ever-growing portfolio of games, but this venture allows the company to bring the enjoyment of the core products it offers to the public who can visit to have a hands-on experience with the games.

Red Knight owner, Rory Kelly, has also been working very closely with Peter Rooke and the team at Smart Games to make sure that the new retail store will be a place where the range of puzzles and logic based games from Smart can be tried out and purchased on site, as well as being able to further add to the range through Smart’s partnering brands such as Skillmatics and more.

Rory commented: “With the recent loss of Belfast’s only board games café, Jack Straws, and also the very sad decision that Eason had to take to not reopen their Northern based stores, it is now more important than ever to offer customers across Northern Ireland and beyond, an environment where families can spend time getting hands-on with products that will inspire, engage and also inject some serious fun both here and when they take products back home. In today’s world, this is really important and especially for protecting young people’s mental health through the power of gaming and spending social time together without screens.”

Merchants of Fun will continue to represent the best of Red Knight’s product range with games from its partnering publishers like Binca Games, History Heroes and Brain Games.

Whilst Northern Ireland is currently experiencing a short “Circuit Breaker” lockdown due to the on-going Covid-19 situation, Saturday’s launch saw a steady stream of visitors who were able to enjoy trying out the games within a safe, socially distanced and clean environment.
