Tomy launches Active Snap

Published on: 23rd November 2020

Tomy Games is encouraging families to get active with its latest launch.

With more than a third of families feeling inspired to become more active during lockdown, and almost one in five (19%) households exercising more than ever before*, Tomy has announced the launch of its newest card game, which it says meets this growing demand by combining competitive fun with keeping fit.

With the same underlying rules as traditional snap, Active Snap has a twist – to help players keep fit. Encouraging players to get up on their feet and be active, those too slow to shout snap when they notice a matching card will be faced with a range of sporty challenges to act out, from jumping jacks to sit-ups.

Putting a fun spin on a classic family favourite, the concept for the game was originally created by students and their teacher from Simon Balle All-through School as part of the Design Museum’s flagship learning programme, Design Ventura. The project encourages students from schools across the UK to develop a new product to be made and sold in the Design Museum Shop, challenging them to combine creativity and business acumen.

Developed by creative studio Triple Double, the game went on to be the fastest selling product from the Design Ventura programme, before being snapped up by Tomy.

Claire Ridley, head of marketing at Tomy, said: “One positive seen as a result of lockdown, has been families being able to spend more quality time together and it’s been great to see so many households using that time to be more active. Active Snap is the perfect way for families to keep themselves entertained, while keeping fit. Perfect to play at home or even at your local park, it’s the perfect addition to your ever-growing games cupboard – particularly during a national lockdown. We’re confident Active Snap will become a firm favourite in households across the country – helping to make fitness even more enjoyable.”

Suitable for those aged four years and up, stock of Active Snap is available now.
