Fellow shopkeepers have rallied around the Morecambe toy shop.

joystoys480Nobody was hurt in the blaze last Wednesday, however there are fears that the toy shop, owned by Stanley Joy, may never reopen.

John Brown, of Aladdin’s Cave Antiques nearby, said: “The shop has been a landmark in business in the West End for years. The business community here will support Stan, but I think he will be finishing businesswise.”

The fire started at around 5:30pm last Wednesday, and spread to several shops.

Police have since arrested three teenagers in connection with the fire.

This is a sad event for the independent toy retail sector, as well as the local community.
