The Fairtrade chocolate supplier is launching a new Shaun the Sheep Fairtrade chocolate lolly for spring 2017.
Divine Chocolate was selected to be the exclusive chocolate supplier for Aardman in the UK in 2015, because of “the company’s Fairtrade and farmer-owned credentials”.
In 2017, Divine will launch a milk and white chocolate Shaun the Sheep lolly for Easter, tapping into the popularity of the British character and demand for premium Easter chocolate.
The only official Shaun the Sheep chocolate available in the UK, the lolly will be made from natural and Fairtrade ingredients, including Ghanaian cocoa grown by Kuapa Kokoo, a co-operative of 85,000 cocoa farmers who own 44% of the Divine company. The company also uses Fairtrade sugar from the Kasinthula grower’s co-operative in Malawi, and vanilla from Fairtrade farmers in Madagascar.
“We’re delighted to partner with Aardman once more to delight consumers with the much loved character of Shaun the Sheep in chocolate form,” said Charlotte Green, marketing director at Divine Chocolate. “We’re confident the delicious Fairtrade chocolate and cute character will be a hit with parents and children alike, with consumer research indicating 90.5% of consumers would give the Shaun the Sheep lolly as a treat.”
“It’s fantastic to be working with Divine Chocolate again following the success of our Shaun the Sheep egg last year,” added Rachael Peacock, Shaun the Sheep’s brand manager.
The Shaun the Sheep lolly will be available from January 2017.
