As part of the May Show in Harrogate, last night saw the welcome return of the Toymaster Awards Dinner to the Majestic Hotel.
After a busy couple of days at the Toymaster show, Wednesday evening saw Toymaster suppliers and independent retailers alike welcomed to an elegant evening of food and live musical entertainment, which marked the return of the buying group’s popular Awards Night.
The following members were honoured with a special 25 Years Membership Award which was presented at the event: Howleys (Weymouth), Donalds of Peterhead, Thomas Moore (Exeter), The Toy Shop in Trowbridge, Blewetts of Hayle and JAC Stores (Isle of Man). Although not in attendance to receive their awards in person, the following members were also announced as having enjoyed 25 years membership: Gliddons (Sidmouth), Stewart Miller (Northern Ireland), Watkin Toys (Taunton) and Beatty’s (Loughrea).
An additional two Toymaster Awards were announced. These Friends of Toymaster awards were presented to Tiffany Cairns-Allen of Lego and Tim Foley of MGA, in recognition of their hard work and commitment in supporting Toymaster members.
The final award of the evening went to Asmodee for Supplier of the Year.
Toymaster business development manager, Brian McLaughlin, commented: “It is truly wonderful to see everyone back together again under one roof and having a successful show. Feedback has been very positive; although challenges are still out there, everyone remains upbeat and members have been delighted to view all the great new products this year.”
Paul Reader, Toymaster marketing director, added: “We’ve had a great time and the evening functions have shown we can all play as hard as we work. Everyone who has come to Toymaster has brought with them a real feeling of optimism, and we’re very pleased with the feedback.”
The number of retailers receiving 25 Years Awards this year highlights the loyalty of members to the group, and demonstrates that the advantages of membership are ongoing and relevant to experienced toy shops and new businesses alike.
