Basic Fun! introduces Cutetitos to the UK

Published on: 13th November 2018

The spicy new collectible plush range taps into pet-wrapping social media trend.

Already proving popular in America, Basic Fun’s new Cutetitos range hits UK shelves in December. Packaged in a mystery bag, Cutetitos are high quality 7.5″ plush animals wrapped in a soft, plush burrito blanket that includes a pet collector card.

There are 12 to collect – kids unroll the burrito to reveal their surprise puppito, catito, slothito, pigto, bunnito, bearito or monkito.

Each Cutetito has a personality Hot Spot that’s discovered when they’re unwrapped – mild, medium, hot or super spicy, which relates to their rarity level – while the pet collector card tells kids everything they need to know about their new pet Cutetito, including birthday, species, name and favourite quote.

Ashley Mady, head of brand development, Basic Fun, commented: “Pet-wrapping has been quite the social media phenomenon in recent months, with pet owners sharing adorable photos online of their furry friends snugly wrapped up in blankets. When they started likening their wrapped pets to burritos, we decided to embody the trend in toy form with the softest, cutest plush animals all wrapped into their own soft plush blanket, just like a burrito. The result is a highly collectible range of pets, each hidden in its own burrito, just waiting to be unwrapped and loved by children of all ages.”

The UK launch is supported by a TV campaign commencing in December, as well as major social media and PR campaigns.
