BBC One documentary to celebrate Aardman’s 40th anniversary

A Grand Night In: The Story of Aardman will be shown on Boxing Day.

aardman480This Christmas will see a host of stars, both human and clay, feature in a special BBC One documentary. Narrated by Julie Walters, the programme looks at Aardman’s multi award-winning work across film, TV and advertising characters such as Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Morph and Creature Comforts.

To celebrate the anniversary, Aardman is looking to bring some collectible items to the market, working with existing partners such as Rainbow Designs, Danilo and Robert Harrop alongside new partnerships with Steiff Bears, for a special edition Gromit and Isle of Man stamps for an Aardman themed collection.

A 40th anniversary style guide has been created, bringing the studio’s stable of well-loved characters together, focusing on the best Aardman on-screen moments from the past four decades. The focus will be on collectibles, publishing, exhibitions and art programmes along with covetable gift wares, and the team is looking to explore opportunities with new licensees early next year.

A Grand Night In: The Story of Aardman will be shown as part of the BBC festive season on Boxing Day at 2:25pm alongside the first ever Shaun the Sheep half-hour special Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer’s Llamas, which will also premiere in the UK on BBC One on Boxing Day at 6:15pm.
