BBC Worldwide appoints head of UK merchandising

BBC Worldwide has announced the appointment of Clare Piggott as head of merchandising for its UK business.BBC-Worldwide-Logo300

As part of her new role, Clare will be responsible for managing the licensing strategy and developing relationships with key licensees to achieve revenue and profitability targets for the UK. She will report into Brian Hill, sales director, BBC Worldwide UK.

Piggott joins BBC Worldwide from The Promotions Factory, where she was general manager, Retail Promotions, managing business development for major licences including Disney and Nickelodeon and across brands such as Spider-man, Disney Princess and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Brian Hill said: “With Clare’s background and experience in licensing and merchandising, she will be a major asset to our business.  Her arrival comes at a crucial time when BBC Worldwide is focused upon developing and driving its future strategy.”

Clare added: “I’m thrilled to be joining the BBC at such an important time. I’m also looking forward to meeting with licensees and retailers in Vegas at Licensing Expo. It’s inspiring to have the opportunity to work on premium brands that engage and delight audiences across the world.”

Formerly, Clare held various roles within Nickelodeon and Mattel where she was responsible for the development and execution of the UK retail and brand strategies for properties such as Dora the Explorer, South Park, SpongeBob SquarePants, Barbie, and Hot Wheels.
