Big Balloon partners with Matt Hatter

Platinum Films has appointed Big Balloon as its Australian toy partner for the animated adventure series Matt Hatter Chronicles.

The deal will see Big Balloon distributing and marketing the debut Matt Hatter toy range from international master toy partner the Simba Dickie Group and follows Platinum’s recent appointment of Haven Licensing as licensing agent for Australia and New Zealand.

Chris Loverso, sales and marketing director of Big Balloon, commented: “From the moment we saw the Matt Hatter programming and toy line developed by our partners Simba, we just had to work with Platinum and Haven on this must-have brand. The boys’ action aisle has to be at the forefront of innovation, entertainment, role-play and collectability and Matt Hatter delivers on all fronts. We are now developing the launch programme and already we’re receiving an excited response from all our retail partners for a launch in early 2015. All the team at Big Balloon are sure Matt Hatter will be the boys’ hero everyone will be talking about in 2015 and beyond.”

Celebrating the company’s 20th year in the business, Haven has been entrusted with recruiting licensing partners for a cross-category product roll-out and synchronised retail and marketing campaign in 2015. Tom Punch, managing director at Haven Licensing, commented: “We are incredibly excited to be leading the licensing programme for Matt Hatter. It’s an amazing show with a quality of animation rarely seen in the TV space. The Simba Dickie range is sensational and has been placed at every major retailer in the UK, and with Big Balloon now on board as master toy partner in Australia, we are primed for building a great long-term programme.”
