Chicken vs Hotdog from Big Potato Games and Dominic Yard was announced as Inventor Toy of the Year at this year’s UK Toy Inventors’ Dinner.
Inaugurated in 2013, the W.I.T.T.Y. (Winning Inventor Toy of The Year) Prize is presented to the inventors of a product introduced in the preceding year and judged by the attendees to be the most exciting and inventive. The winner is decided on the night, with everyone at the dinner casting their vote in person. Big Potato previously won the award back in 2020 for its hit movie game, Blockbuster.
“We’re chuffed to bits to win this award,” said Dean Tempest, CEO and co-founder of Big Potato Games. “Whilst the game does look very silly, the actual game engine behind it, I think is one of our best. It’s that perfect blend of easy-to-learn and quick to play, whilst raising smiles along the way. This award recognises that, and we couldn’t be happier.”
Dean worked with the award-winning inventor and engineer Dominic Yard (This is Yard) to create Chicken vs Hotdog, a flip-it-and-stick-it party game that’s perfect for all ages. In each round, the highest bidder gets to take on a challenge but if they mess it up, the points go to the other team. If both teams play the same bidding card, it’s Flipperama time, with both sides racing to flip their Chicken or Hotdog first to take control of the round.
The UK Toy Inventors’ Dinner award for Chicken vs Hotdog comes just after the announcement of Obey the Clay being awarded Hero Toy at the London Toy Fair, in a showcase of 25 of the most-anticipated toys and games launching in 2023. To see Chicken vs Hotdog in action, check it out here:
