11-year-old Ashley Todd has won the Top Trumps School Tournament.
The youngster from Cumbria landed the official Top Trumps Schools Tournament title at the weekend.
This year more than 2,500 primary schools up and down the country entered the event, now in its’ 7th year. Around 125,000 children between the ages of six and 11 took part.
Winning Moves UK marketing manager, Claire Simon, commented: “Over the last seven years with these Tournaments we’ve managed to entrench Top Trumps’ presence in the classroom with teachers, alongside its’ ever present playground presence. Before we initiated the Top Trumps Schools Tournament in 2010 educational leaders were hailing the cards as a perfect form of camouflaged teaching – that is, explaining key learning subjects in a fun and visual way. We’re delighted that both this rationale and Top Trumps Schools Championships are on an upward curve.”
Last Saturday (25th June 2016) twelve finalists aged between eight and eleven – from as far as the Highlands of Scotland to Oxford – battled it out at the grand finals, which were staged at Birmingham’s Thinktank Science Museum.
