BTHA reassures industry on Toy Fair safety

Published on: 30th November 2021

Although there are no changes to guidance for large indoor events such as Toy Fair, the team is working closely with Olympia to safeguard the health and safety of participants.

Toy World has received the following statement from Majen Immink, director of Fairs & Special Events at the BTHA, regarding London Toy Fair, which takes place from Tuesday 25th – Thursday 27th January, 2022:

“In light of the recent update from government with regards to the new Omicron coronavirus variant, the BTHA would like to reassure the industry that whilst there are no mandated changes to guidance for large indoor events such as Toy Fair, our preparations for the January event are full steam ahead and we are working closely with Olympia to ensure all necessary measures are taken to protect the health and safety of all our participants. This includes enhanced cleaning operations, an improved ventilation system, multiple hand sanitisation points, use a of a second point of entry/exit (via the National Hall foyer) and mandatory Covid status checks for ALL participants.

We will continue to track the industry and government (both local and national) guidance closely, including any mandated changes in restrictions such as compulsory mask wearing and will update participants accordingly.

We very much look forward to welcoming the industry to Toy Fair in January in a safe and productive environment.”

Registration for visitors and media to attend Toy Fair 2022 is open and readers can register for free through the official Toy Fair website: www.toyfair.co.uk. This year, only pre-registered visitors will be admitted, and there will be no on-site visitor registrations.

All participants will need to show proof of full vaccination (at least two weeks prior), negative LFT (within 48 hours) or proof of antibodies (up to six months).

Toy Fair is the largest dedicated toy, game and hobby trade exhibition in the UK, and will occupy a new layout across the Grand and National Halls. The 2022 event will welcome back a high number of returning companies as well as many brand-new exhibitors and some returning after a period of absence.

The organisers are willing to answer any questions that visitors or exhibitors may have on 020 7701 7127.
