Bulldog Licensing has signed a new agreement to represent new girls’ collectable range Shopkins.
Shopkins are grocery-themed collectables inspired by items from aisles in the grocery store and come with shopping bags and baskets. With over 5m views on Shopkins YouTube in less than two months and over 5m views on videos posted by independent toy reviewers, Shopkins is looking to be Moose’s biggest brand.
Produced by Australian company Moose Toys, the property is already popular in Australia and the US and has now hit the UK. The collectables also have a strong social media presence and Bulldog is tapping into this popularity by targeting sectors including back to school, publishing, apparel and plush after debuting at this year’s Brand Licencing Europe show.
Rob Corney, Bulldog Group MD, said: “Shopkins is a massive opportunity for the UK licensing market. It has massive support from toy partner Flair, extremely strong characterisation from licensor Moose and a licencing programme that will be growing very quickly based on the reaction we had at BLE. All of the partners involved have a pedigree in delivering brands from the collectable world which offer huge commercial opportunities and longevity.”
