Banaghan & Co., headed up by Colm Banaghan, will take over Irish representation from May.

Joe Kissane and Phil Richardson.

After 31 years representing Character Options in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, Philip Richardson has announced his intention to retire from the role at the end of August this year.

Speaking on behalf of the company, and also on a more personal level, Joe Kissane, managing director, Character Options, would like to congratulate Phillip on his upcoming retirement and thank him for his fantastic service to the company.

Joe, one of the founder members of the group alongside Richard King, Kiran Shah and Jon Diver, said: ‘Philip was with us from the very beginning, he was there through tough times but also enjoyed the successful years. Myself, Richard, Jon and Kiran will always be grateful for his loyalty, commitment and the 100% support he gave in helping Character grow into the successful business it is today. Philip and I first met when we both worked at Lego 40 years ago. He has been a great friend as well as a loyal employee; he will be sadly missed by everyone in the business.”

In preparation for the change and to ensure a smooth transition, Joe is also pleased to announce that Banaghan & Co has been appointed to represent the company and its products to the independent trade retailers for the Republic and Northern Ireland plus the Isle of Man. The Banaghan Team will commence this new role, working alongside Phillip, at the Toymaster show in May. Ireland-based national accounts will however be handled directly by the internal Character sales team.

“I would like to welcome Banaghan & Co to the sales force,” continued Joe. “Colm and his team will be the perfect replacement for Phil in order to continue the great work he has done over the past 31 years. We look forward to a long and successful relationship.”

Colm Banaghan added: ‘We are delighted to be appointed to represent Character Options and its great range of brands and products. It is our aim to use the close relationships with the independent trade we have forged after 60 years of business to add to success of the Character portfolio. We look forward to seeing everyone at this month’s Toymaster show to get the ball rolling.”
