Clive was joined by Tomy’s Damien Weight for the 52-mile Follow the Seagulls fundraiser in aid of Brainstrust.
Toy Trade stalwarts Clive Wooster of Geomagworld and Tomy’s Damien Weight joined a hardy bunch of walkers to complete the 52-mile Isle of Wight Follow the Seagulls walk in support of the Brainstrust charity last weekend.
Brainstrust provides personalised 24/7 support for those with brain tumours from the point of diagnosis, and builds resources that help people with a brain tumour to become stronger. It also works with people in the clinical setting to secure the best care possible for people with the condition, and campaigns to solve real issues.
The Isle of Wight walk has been a regular annual undertaking for Clive, and he was determined not to let the Covid-19 pandemic mean the charity would miss out on vital funds. Over the past few years, he and his walking companions have raised substantial sums for the Braintrust charity.
This year’s Follow the Seagulls walk had been originally scheduled for April, but the pandemic meant it had to be postponed. Having received strong support from the toy industry, as the event usually does, Clive told Toy World it was a ‘commitment that had to be fulfilled’.
He said: “We were determined to walk it whenever it was safe to do so, and we made sure we met the required Covid-19 protocols, which made things slightly more complicated but were necessary. The weather was perfect – breezy and sunny and most importantly dry.”
The group walked 27 miles on day one with the full group, and 24 miles on day two with a slightly smaller group.
Clive adds: “The Brainstrust Charity yet again received great support from the toy industry for our annual walk on Isle of Wight. Thank you to all those who gave generously – we’ll be back for more in April 2021.”
