Owned by Hornby Hobbies, Corgi will release five 1:76 scale limited editions of the New Bus for London (NBfL), each featuring West End musical advertising livery. Corgi has the exclusive rights to produce this bus from Transport for London in die-cast.
In July 2012, CBS Outdoor UK announced the launch of the first advertising campaign on the NBfL which is scheduled to run until February 2013. The original eight buses feature adverts, five of which Corgi has produced. Mamma Mia, Wicked, and We Will Rock You livered model buses are limited editions available via retailers and online at www.corgi.co.uk. A Les Misérables model will be released exclusively through Corgi’s direct catalogue and website, and Corgi’s Singin’ in the Rain model will be released exclusively for Corgi Collector Club members.
The first NBfL hit the streets of the capital in February 2012. The new hybrid diesel-electric motor vehicles were first announced back in 2008 in Mayor of London Boris Johnson‘s election manifesto, and have since become commonly known as the Boris Bus.
