Golden Bear was appointed as the master toy licensee for Woolly and Tig in late 2012, and since the news that an official toy range was to be launched, the company has received requests from parents. Retailers are now pre-selling in large numbers.
Barry Hughes, Golden Bears’ general manager, commented: “The first two products, including the Woolly Soft Toy, went on pre-sale in several retailers a few weeks ago and orders have already surpassed what was a bullish opening forecast. Our own website has also seen record breaking traffic and a recent newsletter to the database talking of the launch, resulted in a 71% response against an industry standard of just 18%.
“From the very outset we knew that this property was going to be special and had already brought our development forward by two months. The first shipment is now due to land in just a few days and has already been assigned to retailers. Future shipments are on their way but owing to the demand have been placed on allocation only.”
The Woolly and Tig TV series airs three times a day on CBeebies. Series one and two are broadcasting in rotation, and continue to beat the slot’s average ratings and share performance. iPlayer delivers an additional 1.25m views per month. CBeebies has recently commissioned a series of 10-minute themed specials to be broadcast from this Autumn.
