Dragon-i Toys will introduce Toy-Fi Teddy at the shows this year, as well as new lines to its Chatimals brand, and extend its portfolio of licensed toys.CHEEKY-CHATIMALS300

The company will showcase at The Toy Fair, London January 21-23 (Gallery 152), Nuremberg International January 29-Feb 3 (Booth 5-D-25) and American International Toy Fair, New York, February 16-19 (Booth 5417).

Dragon-i’s first line using its Toy-Fi technology, the Toy-Fi Teddy, enables the plush bear to communicate with mobile devices anywhere in the world. The marquee feature is the ability for friends and family to send messages from their mobile device, to their child’s Toy-Fi Teddy. In return, kids can leave a message from the plush itself.

Dave Cave, president of Dragon-i Toys, said: “The Toy-Fi line promises to wow. We’ve spent years in research and development to bring consumers a plush evoking traditional play, interlaced with a easy-to-use technology component both parents and children will adore.”

Developed in partnership with Spiral, the 12”-teddy bear plush utilises a three-pronged communication and content delivery system incorporating cloud, Bluetooth and mobile technology. Spiral’s Bluetooth-based technology inside the toy connects to the cloud, and iOS and Android devices. The Toy-Fi app allows anyone with the app to connect to their toy; and allows parents control of messages to and from the toy. Additionally, Toy-Fi Teddy brings added play such as Voice Fun, Hide and Seek or Memorisation, and more. Slated for retail by mid-2014, the toy is suitable for children aged three years plus.

Dragon-i’s own toy chest brands include successful properties Gunslinger, Mighty Megasaur, Blobimals and Chatimals, which has already sold over three million units globally. In 2014, Dragon-i will reinvigorate its Chatimals line with Cheeky Chatimals. The initial new line includes a hamster, monkey and penguin.

The company also has proven success in its licensed brands from Talking Tom and Friends, Disney’s Jungle Book, Hello Kitty and Mr. Men, among others. As a key toy licensee for Talking Tom and Friends, Dragon-i will be showcasing an updated Talking Tom and Friends Talk Back Animation Plush Toy at the fairs. The plush toys are based on fully-animated 3D animal characters with an array of in-app user functions. For 2014, Dragon-i presents Talking Tom and Friends Talk Back Animation in new packaging, and a refined Talking Tom that mimics the original app version more closely. The voice quality and sound of Talking Ginger and Talking Angela has been improved.

Dragon-i will support Talking Tom and Friends, Cheeky Chatimals, Toy-Fi Teddy, among others, with a television and marketing campaign. Buyers, retailers and industry executives interested in appointments should contact Dave Cave or Alex Saussol at,
