Eugy bags Red Dot design award

The crafting range lets kids (and adults) assemble adorable models of animals and dinosaurs, and has been lauded for its sustainability.

The eco-friendly arts & crafts brand Eugy has scooped a prestigious Red Dot Award, an internationally recognised symbol of design excellence. Eugy was awarded in the International Product Design category. Moving forward, all new packaging will feature the Red Dot award logo which will appeal to consumers.

Distributed in the UK by Brainstorm, the sustainable paper craft toy has become hugely popular, with a growing collection of 47 models already available within the UK.

Nick Saunders, sales director at Brainstorm, said: “It’s exciting to work on a brand like Eugy: it’s such an innovative and unique range, so we aren’t at all surprised that it has been recognised by such a prestigious international awards scheme. All credit to the brilliant team at Dodoland, which is dedicated to not only growing Eugy but also supporting and promoting sustainability.”

The international jury of the Red Dot Awards chose to add Eugy to its, ‘sought-after seal of quality to products that feature an outstanding design.’

Kevin Topham from Dodoland added: “It goes without saying that we’re over the moon. We’d like to say a huge thank you to you all our Eugy Friends and partners, without whom none of this would be possible. Eugy’s design keeps evolving and it will become more and more eco-friendly, so it’s a really exciting time for all involved.”

Already established as a pioneering eco-friendly brand, later this year, new productions of Eugys will be FSC certified for both product and packaging. This will be phased in, and consumers will see the FSC logo and registration printed on the packaging. Brainstorm  has also commissioned the design of a bespoke FSC certified FSDU so that retailers can display the product to full effect.

The April issue of Toy World featured an exclusive Q&A on Eugy with Brainstorm marketing manager Debra Tiffany, which readers can view here (scroll to the end of the Pocket Money Toys & Collectibles intro).
