Eureka! and Small Machines launch bespoke toy range

Published on: 1st August 2016

Eureka! The National Children’s Museum and Small Machines have launched a bespoke range of toys.

EurekaThe build-your-own range has been created to appeal to inquisitive children and grown-ups alike, and inspires learning through building, making, basic engineering and construction.

The products were designed exclusively for Eureka! by Small Machines, toy makers and experts in designing and creating laser-cut toys. The kits, designed, made, packaged and sold in Yorkshire, will be launched on 1st August 2016.

Eureka!’s first product range includes five kits, and signals the start of an ambition to extend the Eureka! licensing programme. These include Build Your Own Cogs Creation, Build Your Own Lion, Build Your Own Marble Adventure, Get Creative Painting Set and Pop Out Zoom. The products will be available from the Museum Shop.

Michelle Emerson, marketing and development director at Eureka!, commented: “We’ve been incredibly lucky to work with Small Machines on the design and development of this range of products. They know our brand inside out, and have created a range of products which perfectly suit our audience. It’s been an interesting journey and we’re pleased we’ve managed to work with a local maker, local designers and a local packaging company to launch our first range.”

Giles Grover, toy maker and founder of Small Machines, added: “Working in collaboration with Eureka! has been a fantastic experience and a real opportunity for a small company to demonstrate its worth on a significant playing field. Michelle has been a great client to work for. She has had a real sense of clarity and purpose from the start, giving me absolute direction in some instances and equal freedom in others so that I have been able to design, develop and manufacture five entirely new lines of toys and products for the museum.”
