Fence Club annual golf day open to all golfers

The 49th annual Teddy Simmonds Golf Day will take place on 16th June at the Oakdale Golf Club in Harrogate.

The Fence Club has announced that the 49th annual Teddy Simmonds Golf Day will take place on Thursday 16th June at the Oakdale Golf Club in Harrogate. Described by the organisers as “a chance to get together as an industry for some friendship and fundraising,” the event is one of the most popular golf days in the toy community calendar.

Teams of four and individual entries are welcomed from golfers across the toy and licensing community – and you don’t have to be a Fence Club member to take part.

As well as a day of golf and socialising, monies are also raised for the Fence Club charity from an auction, fines and the raffle, alongside sponsorship and players’ entry fees. The event is just one of the many ways in which the Fence Club charity raises funds for less privileged children.

The Golf Day sees prizes awarded for a main Stableford completion, the best-performing Fence Club member and the best team, among others. These are announced at the evening dinner, where attendees will also learn more about the ethos of the Fence Club and how funds raised from events are distributed.

Last year’s event was the first Fence Club event since the initial lockdown in 2020, and the organisers were delighted with the turnout and the amount of money raised – an impressive £30,600, despite members from Ireland being unable to attend due to Covid travel restrictions.

Joe Kissane commented: “It was an unbelievable day and demonstrated the camaraderie that the Fence Club is all about. The members who were there were enthusiastic and very generous, as were their guests; everyone got into the spirit of the occasion. The whole day was awesome.”

The cost for the day is £95 to include all golf fees, refreshments and the evening meal, and those interested in taking part should contact Simon Anslow: simon@harrogatefair.com or call 07798 737077.
