Fence Club members undertake fundraising walking challenge

Published on: 21st March 2022

Monies raised by the Fence Club will be used to support local children’s charities and fund a donation supporting children caught up in the Ukraine crisis.

Continuing to live up to its club motto to “strive mightily”, The Fence Club is proud to confirm that a number of members have committed to “stride mightily” and raise money in aid of very worthwhile locally supported children’s charities, combined with a significant donation of £10,000 towards supporting children in the Ukraine.

A special event will take place this Easter in Windsor. Scheduled for Saturday 9th April, the day will see Fence Club members undertake a walking challenge. Participants can choose to embark on a walk of either 50km or 25km on the day, which the organisers say will be no mean feat for those involved. The Fence Club said it is very pleased to be able to help such a worthy cause, and Chairman David Bramford added: “For those of us doing the walk, it certainly adds a little more significance.”

David will lead the 50km team, while the 25km team will be spearheaded by vice chairman Simon Anslow.

“I am also pleased to confirm we now have ‘younger than ever’ Wall Member Keith Elmer joining us on the walk, and to date, a total of 11 walkers have signed up, of which nine are Fence Club members,” added David. “On the fundraising side, we are now over £7k in sponsorship, so all looking very positive. A massive thank you to everyone that has contributed.”

The Fence Club is appealing to members that have not already signed up to lend their support, either by taking part in one of the walks or by supporting the fundraising efforts with a donation.

“We really need your support,” commented Fence Club committee member Jacqueline Taylor-Foo. “It all goes to very special and worthwhile causes that in our small way, make a big difference to the children and their families.”

Donations can be made here or those who would prefer to donate directly should contact Jacqueline Taylor-Foo at j88foo@gmail.com.

“Please give generously and wish all those involved good luck,” added Jacqueline.
