Finding Dory breaks US box office records

The film has broken records for the best opening and second weekends in the genre. 

dory480The Finding Nemo sequel has unseated Shrek the Third for the position of best opening weekend for an animated film. It is also the second most successful opening weekend of 2016, just behind Captain America: Civil War.

It has also now broken the record for best second weekend for the genre, nudging Shrek 2 out of the way by making $73.2m at box office.

It has also taken the top spot of the biggest Pixar opening, knocking Toy Story 3 off the top spot, as it only took $110.3m.

It is estimated that the film has now made approximately $286.6 million.
