Each Sunday the businessman and TV star runs an initiative called Small Business Sunday where he invites small businesses to send him a tweet. All the tweets are reviewed and Theo chooses his six favourites, then retweets them on a Monday evening. With almost 350,000 Twitter followers, this gives high exposure to those selected.
On Sunday evening, Angela Ramsay’s company, ‘Blankgame’, was one of the six chosen out of 1,200 entries.
Angela said: “I was working on Monday evening when someone sent a message of congratulations. Next I knew, I was getting hundreds of messages and new followers on Twitter from all over the UK. It’s fabulous to receive such support from Theo Paphitis as it can be tough trying to raise the profile of a small business with a limited marketing budget. It’s good to find out that Theo has recognised our hard work and helped spread the word to his followers.”
Blankgame makes educational family games, puzzle greeting cards and puzzle books in Perthshire, Scotland. Angela said: “Our aim is to make fabulous inventive products that are great fun for all the family but educational, too. Our first product was the patented word game, Blank! and we are currently developing a new trivia game. All our products are available via our website www.fiendishlyfabulous.com and on Amazon.”
Angela added: “After being retweeted by Theo Paphitis on Monday night, Rymans got in touch and invited me to enter my details on a new website they sponsor called www.theopaphitissbs.com. All this week, my company is being profiled on the front page.”
Anyone who wants to take part in Small Business Sunday should tweet Theo Paphitis about their business on Sundays between 5pm and 7.30pm, including the hashtag #SBS.
