Originally introduced to the company’s range in 1981, the game has a new board design, updated components and is presented in a smart new box.
However, the gameplay remains the same. Inspired by the magic of the 1980-81 FA Cup, Wembley takes players back to the 100th anniversary of the world’s oldest football competition, when Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester City in the first Wembley replay and Ricky Villa scored the unforgettable goal.
“Wembley was a great success in the 1980s and every year we get asked when it will be reintroduced to the Gibsons range,” said key account manager, Nicki Gumbrell. “Following the success of our detective board games 221b Baker Street and Sherlock Holmes The Card Game, we felt the time was the right time to rebrand the classic game. As the release coincides with the FA Cup semi-final, we hope families will be encouraged to sit down and play their very own version of the great game.”
