Gibsons signs Roald Dahl licensing deal

Gibsons has announced a deal with DRi Licensing to launch a series of jigsaw puzzles based on the Roald Dahl books.charlie-&-willie300

The puzzles will feature characters such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The BFG.

A recent survey of parents and children carried out for International Children’s Book Day saw Roald Dahl voted best children’s author of all time, ahead of JK Rowling and Beatrix Potter. Kate Armitage, marketing director at Gibsons, said: “The fantastic works of Roald Dahl have delighted generations of children and his appeal is timeless. Our brand stands for British, nostalgic, high quality products and this licence will fit perfectly with our core values.”

The puzzles will launch in 2014 to coincide with the 50th anniversary celebrations of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Alicia Davenport, licensing director at DRi, commented: “We’re delighted that Gibsons has joined the Roald Dahl Licensing Programme at this very exciting time – puzzles, game play and family were at the heart of Roald Dahl’s life, so this is the perfect addition to our rapidly expanding Roald Dahl Programme.”
