Hamleys invites kids to go for gold at summer long sports day

Published on: 22nd July 2021

Fun and games will be taking place at the Regents Street branch this summer as well as nationwide in all Hamleys stores until September.

Most pandemic restrictions in the UK are now being lifted, however the end of the summer school term has still been affected with many sports days being cancelled, meaning no egg and spoon, bean bag balancing or the infamous Mums and Dads races, and lots of children have missed out on the fun.

Hamleys is inviting families to enjoy a summer long sports day. Activities in the Regents Street store will incorporate fun challenges including penalty shoot outs with the Hamleys bears, sporty puppet shows, a Wizarding World tournament, sports day with Frozen II and lots more.

In celebration of a summer of exciting sporting events, ranging from the recent Euros tournament and Wimbledon to the Tokyo Olympics, the Hamleys entertainment team will be split into Team Fun and Team Magic, and any children who wish to enter the challenges will be able to become part of one of the teams

As ever, there will be a wide array of toys to get customers moving and active this summer, both in and outdoors, including Hamleys Booma, the Extreme Bubble Blaster and the rapid Hamleys Street Gliders in lots of colours and super new styling.

Store manager Keane Herman said:  “We know many children will not have been able to enjoy their own sports days at school, so we’d love them to join us for some fun instead. There will be plenty of sports day style challenges to keep us all active in the holidays when the country will be glorying in some of the greatest sporting events on the planet.”
