Published on: 4th October 2017

Commission of third series of the BAFTA and International Emmy award-winning pre-school animation Hey Duggee announced.

Devised by the Oscar nominated and Bafta award-winning Studio Aka, series three will see Duggee and The Squirrel Club return for 52 brand-new episodes.

Hey Duggee, created and written by Grant Orchard, Senior Director of Studio Aka, inspires children to be energetic, explore and problem solve to earn the much desired badge. The series is a hit on CBeebies in the UK, and consistently ranks as one of the top three programmes on the channel. It is also available to watch on Amazon Prime Video in the UK and Ireland.

Hey Duggee has a global footprint in over 150 territories. Among its successes are China, where it has had around 470m combined views on streaming platforms Tencent and iQIYI since launch.  In the US, Nick Junior has acquired series two following the successful launch of series one last year.

Elsewhere, Hey Duggee ranked No. 1 in its timeslot for children aged 4-10 years on France 5, falls in the top five most watched programmes on ABC Kids in Australia, and in Italy series one was among the top three most viewed shows on Cartoonito in its launch month.

Henrietta Hurford-Jones, director of children’s content and executive producer of Hey Duggee for BBC Worldwide, commented: “Hey Duggee has fast become a firm favourite with children and their parents across the globe and we are incredibly proud of that, so we’re very much looking forward to working with Studio Aka to deliver another series of Hey Duggee.”

Hey Duggee series three is expected to transmit on CBeebies in autumn 2018 and will roll out to other markets following its UK transmission. Further new episodes of series two are anticipated to air on CBeebies this autumn as well, including a Halloween Special, with more new episodes set to hit UK screens in spring 2018.
