The series has new episodes set for delivery in 2016 and the 60-minute special is set to follow in 2017. Bob the Builder is also set to embark on new digital adventures with the launch of short-form videos with shorts set to launch on YouTube in August 2015.
Christopher Keenan, VP global content and executive producer at Hit, said: “We are excited about the greenlight of a second series of Bob the Builder and particularly thrilled about bringing additional content to the many platforms on which children and families are currently engaging with entertainment.”
As with the first series, episodes for the second series, 60-minute special and shorts will be produced at Hit’s UK headquarters with animation services provided by Canadian-based digital animation company, Mainframe.
The all-new first series will hit screens later this year on Channel 5’s Milkshake!.
