The team at Honiton Toy Shop has presented a cheque for £548 to the Exeter Neonatal Unit.

The money was raised during the Easter break when staff at the High Street store ran a number of competitions for customers.

Organiser Jennifer Beckett said they decided to raise funds for the unit at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital after her brother-in-law Mark Beckett and his wife Tracey had premature twins, and they wanted to say thank you to team for all of their care and support. Five-month-old Finlay and Verity are now doing well.

To raise the money customers were invited to pay 50p to take part in a number of competitions with prizes including a £120 Thomas the Tank Engine train set, a TopModel kit worth £50 and a Lego set. There were also collecting tins in the shop which received many generous donations.

Mrs Beckett, commented: “We were staggered by the amount raised.”
