Hopkins Toymaster announces new branch

Published on: 14th April 2020

Toy Corner, in Moycullen, Ireland, has been selling popular Boredom Busting Boxes during the UK Covid-19 lockdown.

The store, owned and run by Hazel McCarthy, is located in the village of Moycullen in Galway. Toy Corner is a new branch for existing Toymaster member Hopkins Toymaster.

The store, like many others, is now operating under the strict lockdown restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Hazel has worked hard to get the Toy Corner online store up and running, so customers can place orders for toys and games to keep the kids entertained. The Boredom Busting Boxes have proved particularly popular; each box is created with the intended recipient in mind, and is billed as a “lovely way of sending a treat to all the kids who have been so good at adapting to this crazy new world”.

A statement from Hazel on Toy Store’s official website adds: “I learned the toy business from my mother and her parents before her, and all of the amazing staff they have employed over the years in their shop in Wicklow Town.

I’ve been living on the west side of Galway city for nearly three years now and I have long been complaining about the lack of a local toy shop to cater for the birthdays of my fiancé’s many nieces and nephews, and I thought that others may be in the same situation. So, I thought that given my background, I would be in a position to do something to fix that problem, to give an alternative to driving over the dreaded bridge into town! And so, with that simple goal in mind, Toy Corner was born.

My vision for Toy Corner is to create a magical place for children to find a cuddly best friend, or for a family to find the board game that they’ll return to for years and years to come. I do hope you’ll come and visit us to see what we’ve created.”
