Inverness toy and model shop to close its doors

A toy shop in Inverness will close at the end of next month after owner Craig MacDonald was hit with a 22% increase in rent.85b5b78b44d8dccc32df6dbd56505f49

The Inverness Model Shop, based in the Victorian Market, is the only store in the area that offers remote control cars, helicopters and toy railways.

Posters in the shop’s window criticise the council for imposing the “astronomical” rent increase. Other shops in the Victorian Market are also facing similar rises and are struggling to meet the costs.

The local council says the proposed rises are in line with other rental costs in the city centre.
