Following positive TV ratings for seasons one and two of the popular CGI series, ITV has greenlit a further 13 x 22’ episodes for broadcast in 2014.
Matt Hatter Chronicles has emerged as one of the fastest-growing boys’ global franchises of 2013 with seasons one and two having sold to over 80 countries worldwide, dubbed into 18 languages and top rated across Europe, South Africa and Australasia. Platinum Films will be looking to further strengthen the global TV profile across pay and free to air platforms at Mipcom when season three is officially presented to the broadcast community.
Nigel Stone, CEO of Platinum Films and series creator, commented: “Season three is a game-changer. Matt becomes a ‘Hero in Training’ and dutifully masters his skills and gadgetry in order to face his toughest challenge yet. We are delighted to be in production on a new series for ITV and we are raising the stakes like never before. Hatter Fans worldwide better be ready for the new adventure!”
The comic-book inspired design, hi-tech gadgetry, and collectable power of the brand is good news for newly-appointed Master Toy licensee, Simba Dickie Group (EMEA, Russia and India) and the rapidly expanding licensing programme. The Matt Hatter brand is set to make its mark in the UK and internationally with a multi-territory consumer product roll-out planned for 2014 under the management of a global network of first-class licensing agents including ITVS GE (UK & Eire), Biplano (Iberia), Exim (Latam), Haven (Australasia), B-Rights (Greece & Cyprus) and Revolution (South Africa).
Matt Hatter features epic storylines and a 3D animation technique called ‘Multivision’ (3D without glasses). The new series will introduce a new band of super villains, a new realm to the Multiverse, an armoury of new ‘Hatter Hero Tech’ and an online hub of immersive digital content.
