The most watched wrestling show in the UK is now available for licensing opportunities.
ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) is bringing World of Sport Wrestling into the licensing arena, following the successful return of British wrestling to Saturday night entertainment on ITV in July this year.
Following in the footsteps of the original 1960s series that made household names like Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks, the 2018 revamp features over 30 wrestlers, all with their own catchphrases and signature moves. The series showcases fan-favourites Grado, Will Ospreay, Viper, Adam Maxted, Kay Lee Ray and many more of British wrestling’s finest talent.
In addition to the athletes, legendary wrestling star Stu Bennett stars as WOS executive, and wrestling expert SoCal Val joins as a member of the commentary team.
Described as ‘The best soap opera on TV’ by The Guardian, Season 1, produced by ITV Studios Entertainment, debuted to over 1m viewers in the UK, making it the highest rated British wrestling show in 30 years. With 10 episodes in the first season and a Live Show planned for the beginning of 2019, World of Sport Wrestling looks set to shake up the sport and put British wrestling back on the map.
