This is an exciting opportunity to join Rainbow Designs – ‘The Home of Classic Characters’ – a 50 year old growing business, working with leading classic brands such as Paddington Bear, Peter Rabbit, Winnie the Pooh, Guess How Much I Love You and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Our range of products covers soft toys, wooden toys and gifting and we have an incredibly diverse customer base spanning Toy, Nursery and Gifting retailers.

The Role

The role of National Account Controller has become available. This is an important position which will help us achieve our ambitious growth plans over the next few years. The role covers sales management, hands-on business development and strategic planning, and would suit an individual who is innovative, highly organised and energetic. The successful candidate will have the drive and passion required to achieve their goals and make a difference.

Fixed Term: Full time, permanent

Location: Home-based with visits to the Hammersmith office

Reporting: To the Sales and Marketing Director

Direct Reports: 1 x Junior NAM, Internal Sales Support

Key Responsibilities

Management of all aspects of sales activities within the defined channel, covering national accounts and mass market customers, to achieve ambitious growth plans. The three core responsibilities cover and include:

Business Development

  • Identifying new business opportunities in core and mass national accounts
  • Direct ownership of strategic customers, with full responsibility for the growth and performance of those accounts
  • Developing account plans for existing accounts
  • Budgeting, planning and coordinating implementation of retail support

Strategic planning

  • To own, develop, and implement the channel sales strategy
  • Planning and budgeting innovative retail account plans annually
  • Monthly reporting on sales performance against budget

Management and development of Direct Junior NAM and close liaison with sales support, consisting of a Sales Administrator and a Merchandiser

  • All aspects of recruitment and selection for the department
  • Setting and training the correct activity, routines and reporting

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a multi-channel retail sales environment
  • Experience in managing people
  • Experience in managing National Accounts to a high strategic level
  • Development of outstanding forward looking account plans
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Costing and promotional planning
  • Setting strategic plans
  • New business focused and growth orientated
  • A good motivator and trainer
  • Have a flexible approach, be highly organised and able to deliver good processes
  • Excellent computer skills and highly numerate
  • Approachable and a great communicator at all levels
  • Outstanding team player with an ability to work and build relationships cross-function
