K’nex has announced Sue Quinn of The Granville School as the first winner of its national Teachers Build Futures competition.
The competition asks pupils to nominate teachers who make learning fun and Sue was nominated by Year 6 pupil Lucy Tansley.
Lucy said: “Mrs Quinn is a brilliant teacher who encourages us to ask questions about everything and anything that makes us curious. I used to find science boring but, thanks to Mrs Quinn, I’ve come on so well that I’m a science prefect and I think science is amazing in every way.”
Sue was surprised during a whole school assembly when headmistress Jane Scott revealed she had won the competition.
Afterwards, Sue commented: “Pupils like Lucy Tansley are the reason I have been teaching at The Granville School for 20 years. Although I’m leaving the school later this year, the words in Lucy’s nomination will remain with me for years to come.”
The teacher was presented with toys that her Year Six class can enjoy building as a team, including a K’nex Typhoon Frenzy coaster and a K’nex 70 Model Ultimate Building Set.
Competition nominations are open until the end of July and can be tweeted to @knexuk, posted on the K’nex Facebook page or emailed to email@example.com. A new winner is chosen every month.
