Laser Pegs CEO responds to patent ruling

Published on: 25th July 2014

Jon Capriola has issued a statement after yesterday’s announcement concerning the ruling made by the United States Patent and Trademark Office in the case between Laser Pegs and Cra-Z-Art. gavel300

The statement reads: “There are multiple issued patents and pending patent applications throughout the world covering aspects of Laser Pegs toys that are unaffected by the USPTO’s decision in the Inter Partes Review proceeding, including several additional pending US patent applications for various innovative Laser Pegs features that were not under consideration in that proceeding.”

David Bowman from Laser Pegs UK distributor Goldfish and Bison commented: “We have made a significant investment in the Laser Pegs brand and we would like to reassure the trade that we are fully committed to further developing this brand and product range throughout Europe. The patent lawsuit in USA that has returned a non-favourable verdict has no significance on the continued development of Laser Pegs worldwide. We are increasing our TV advertising spend for the forthcoming Christmas period and we continue to be encouraged by the excellent sales that were generated last year, which we anticipate increasing significantly in the months ahead.”
