Last chance to bid in the Light Fund English Channel Relay silent auction

Published on: 27th May 2022

There are only a few days left to place bids on the exciting array of lots and support the swimmers taking on the Light Fund cross-channel challenge.

The Light Fund English Channel Relay fundraiser silent auction is underway and, as the 3rd of June deadline approaches, there’s not much time left to show support for this great cause. The auction inludes a fabulous selection of event tickets, money-can’t-buy experiences, rare souvenirs and much, much more.

Winning bidders could enjoy a day out with Morgan cars or with movie cars, a visit to Peppa Pig World or to Cinque Ports Golf Club, lessons from a microbrewing company or  from a champion open water swimmer, signed Premier League shirts (including a Liverpool Football Club shirt from the title-winning 2019-2020 season), matchday VIP passes, a Star Wars stormtrooper suit and original sporting prints. Time is runing out however, and these items won’t be on offer for much longer.

Check out this link to help raise critical funds by participating in the auction or by making a donation. All contributions will support the two six-person teams braving the unforgiving waters of the Channel in only a few weeks and help the swimmers to hit their £250,000 fundraising target.

In the challenge, two relay teams will race each other swimming across the English Channel. There will be mixed teams of variable swimming ability captained by two experienced open water swimmers – all from the licensing industry. Team names areThe Light Fund Optimist and The Light Fund High Hopes; apt because, depending upon the weather and tides etc, a successful crossing could take anywhere between 12 and 24 hours – or indeed longer.

The Light (Licensing Industry Giving Help Together) Fund was born when a group of like-minded people from the UK licensing industry came up with the idea to form a committee to help those less fortunate than themselves. A registered charity, which raises monies to fund worthwhile charity projects, since its inception back in 2004, The Light Fund has raised over £1.7m and funded hundreds of different charity projects.
