LeapFrog introduces Barbie to library

LeapFrog has announced the addition of the Barbie brand to its game portfolio with ‘Barbie: Malibu Mysteries’.

The detective-style game provides a fun and engaging way for children to learn key reading and problem-solving skills through hidden object games and more.

In Barbie: Malibu Mysteries, players help Barbie catch a culprit responsible for missing shoes, shiny sparkly items and cupcakes through collecting clues and solving three mysteries. Along the way, they can build foundation literacy skills. Children can identify words to dress Barbie in mix-and-match outfits, building listening and reading, vocabulary and word recognition skills. Players can also identify items that rhyme or share the same sounds, developing key phonological awareness skills which help children understand that words are made of sounds, boosting their ability to predict how to read and spell new words they encounter.

This latest addition will sit alongside a brand new range of Barbie apps and videos in the LeapFrog App Centre including ‘Barbie: Mermaid Tale’, ‘Barbie: Princess Charm School’ and ‘Barbie: Mariposa’.

Sally Plumridge, international marketing director at LeapFrog, said: “Barbie is an iconic brand whose popularity has spanned generations. We are thrilled to add Barbie to our world class learning library and are sure she will be a huge hit.”

Barbie: Malibu Mysteries is available as a cartridge game or a downloadable app and works with all LeapPad learning tablets, Leapster Explorer and LeapsterGS game systems.
