Learning Resources offers week-long Festival of Fun

Published on: 16th February 2021

To celebrate play and screen-free fun at home this half-term, the leading educational toys company has kicked off the Festival of Fun.

Learning Resources has been providing downloadable and printable educational activities for children throughout the pandemic, and has now launched a week-long event to coincide with half term. The Festival of Fun is a celebration of hands-on play, providing parents with a host of ways to keep children busy and enjoying screen-free fun at home.

Each day, the Learning Resources website will be sharing new activities that families can easily do, and there will also be educational toys and games prizes up for grabs.

The activities are ideal for pre-school and primary school-aged children and have been chosen to give kids a break from screen time and encourage fun, hands-on play.

“Children have been learning at home via screens for weeks, and everyone could do with a break. That’s why we’ve put together some fun, engaging activities families can do at home,” reads a statement on the website.

Fun activities, such as camping indoors or making puppets and telling a story, are suggested, as well as a ‘Download and Do’ section, where instructions for activities can be printed off. These range from how to make the best paper aeroplanes to making a delicious ‘bouquet’ using fresh fruit.

Learning Resources’ social media accounts will highlight the Festival of Fun, and families are advised to check each morning to find out what prizes and activities are on offer each day. Information will be posted on the company’s Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts.

Today, there are also free Pancake Day activities, including a maze, colouring sheet, word game, maths game and an idea for decorating pancakes. Recent suggestions have also included a Chinese New Year craft.

The Festival of Fun will run online until Sunday 21st February.
