The Reading Comprehension Cubes encourage children to ask questions before, during and after reading a story. Designed to help liven up reading discussion, cubes will prompt comprehension questions such as “What do the pictures on the cover tell you about the story?”, and “What is the main idea of the story?”.

The Reading Comprehension Cards Set are a self-checking programme that engage children with fiction and non-fiction stories covering maths, science and social studies topics. Each card covers five multiple choice comprehension questions which focus on the main idea, context clues, sequencing, predicting outcomes, making inferences, drawing conclusions, and cause and effect.

Literacy cards and games are another way to encourage further learning, including Learning Resources’ Hidden Hints context clues game. Children can earn the chance to solve a mystery by proving their word-sleuthing skills, by practicing making inferences and drawing conclusions whilst they tackle context clue questions. Vocabulary in context and reading comprehension is reinforced, and those playing become familiarised with the multiple-choice test question format.
