Last year saw Learning Resources change office location and relocate its warehousing, resulting in a huge clear out of stock which the company donated to the charity In Kind Direct. A total of 38 pallets were given to the charity with a total estimated retail value of £123,000.
The pallets donated were a mixture of resources for teaching, educational games and also learning toys. The toys have now been redistributed to UK charities working at home and abroad. The breakdown of the stock redistribution ranges from helping child/youth care charities and elderly welfare organisations through to supporting counselling/advice networks. Learning Resources was pleased to learn that 386 voluntary and community organisations have benefitted from the donation.
One of the most well-received product ranges donated to In Kind Direct was Playfoam, the creative play resource that does not stick to hands, clothes or the carpet.
In Kind Direct is a charity which was founded in 1996 by HRH the Prince of Wales to provide an easy and efficient way for manufacturers and retailers to donate their products to good causes. 880 companies have donated £140 million worth of their products and 6,000 voluntary and community organisations have received products from the charities helping millions of people in need.
