Lego celebrates launch of London Bus set in Leicester Square

Published on: 3rd July 2017

Lego Creator Expert London Bus available exclusively from Lego stores in London from 1st July.

To celebrate the launch of the new set, which goes on sale globally later in the month, a life size Lego branded Routemaster bus was parked near the Lego store in Leicester Square where the customised top deck provided a studio for the creation of social media and influencer content. A Facebook Live presentation of the Lego London Bus – led by the designers of the set Morten Graff-Wang (senior designer) and Jamie Berard (design manager) – took place on board the bus, followed by exclusive interviews with high profile influencers with links to the AFOL community.

Visitors to Leicester Square were able to join in with the celebrations throughout the day, which included a Lego London Bus mosaic build. Additional consumer engagement initiatives included a photo competition with Lester, the Lego Leicester Square Store mascot. Donning bus themed props and accessories provided, people could take pictures of themselves with Lester and upload them to social media during the day for a chance to win a Lego London Bus Set.

The London Bus comes with an array of brick-built features and details, including large windows, bright red bodywork, panoramic windshield, reversible transit advertising posters provided as printed labels, specially made standard-tread tyres and a destination sign. It also has an opening hood with engine, detailed driver’s cab with sliding door, and a removable roof and upper deck for access to the detailed interior.
