Lego partners with London National Park City

Partnership aims to inspire creativity and unleash the limitless world of children’s’ imaginations.

This October, the Lego Group is giving families nationwide the opportunity to rebuild their city at the Lego UK Rebuilder workshops. In partnership with the London National Park City, the UK Rebuilder Workshops follow similar events in the US and China, and are part of Rebuild the World, the Lego Group’s recently launched campaign.

In July 2019, London became the world’s first National Park City, aimed at improving life in London and making the city a greener, healthier and wilder place, where every child benefits from exploring, playing and learning outdoors.

At the UK Rebuilder Workshops, children will have the opportunity to express their views on how their city could be rebuilt to be a more fun and playful place using Lego bricks, including imagining how the city could be more green, wild and welcoming for wildlife amongst other creative challenges.

The 2018 World Economic Forum Future of Jobs Report placed creative problem solving in the top three skills the job market will require from 2020, critical in helping children learn how to innovate, problem solve and think critically throughout their lives. Aimed at inspiring and developing the builders of tomorrow, the UK Rebuilder Workshops will give kids the power to imagine the cities of the future, with National Park City helping lead the first event at London’s Southbank Centre on 21st and 22nd October.

Marius Lang, head of marketing UK and Ireland at the Lego Group, commented: “Children have a natural creativity that is harnessed and developed through play. The UK Rebuilder Workshops taking place nationwide are our opportunity to show our commitment to giving children the platform to make a change – build, then rebuild whatever they want with no right or wrong answer, just the opportunity to see what rebuilding a world with endless possibilities looks like.”

Additional events are being held across the UK, and children can also take part by getting creative and sharing their creations on the Lego Life app with #Rebuild the World and #NationalParkCity or by visiting www.lego.com/rebuild-the-world-challenge.
