The date was announced by the film’s director Josh Cooley on Twitter.
He tweeted a picture of the number 4, adding the caption: “June 21 2019”.
The release of the movie comes almost a decade after the release of Toy Story 3 in 2009 and has been penned by Stephany Blossom, responsible for Thor: Ragnarok.
The original film was released in 1995. The last film in the franchise ended with Andy moving on to college, passing his toys on to a young girl named Bonnie, who will likely feature in the new film.
Tom Hanks will be returning as the voice of Woody – as had been the case for the previous three films – and it’s likely he will be joined by Tim Allen, who voices Buzz.

Originally it was planned for John Lasseter to direct a script by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack; however, Lasseter left the project last year.
But with a release date now named for the film, it looks as if the project is now back on track under a new creative team.
