French agency Mediatoon Licensing has appointed Those Licensing People as the UK agent for The Magic Roundabout for both the vintage and CGI versions.
The French stop motion animated series was created in 1963 by Serge Danot and quickly attained cult status here in the UK when it engaged an adult audience thanks to Eric Thompson’s dry, humorous narrative.
The series went on to form the basis of the 2005 CGI animated film of the same name with an all-star cast that included Robbie Williams as the voice of Dougal and Kylie Minogue as Florence. The film did not try to emulate the original but rather is inspired by its predecessor and successfully made way for a new era of The Magic Roundabout which children of this generation can enjoy.
Russell Dever, managing director of Those Licensing People, commented: “We are thrilled to be representing such an iconic brand that is without a doubt one of the best children’s animated series in UK history and are very excited to be a part of its revival.”
The agency will target stationery, gift, apparel/fashion accessories and homewares.
